Surveyor / Estimator – Construction (Heritage & Refurbishment)
Location: Kent (office + site travel)
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + package
Type: Permanent, Full-time
The Opportunity
We’re recruiting for an experienced Surveyor / Estimator to join a well-established contractor delivering heritage, restoration, and refurbishment projects across Kent and the South East.
This is a hybrid role combining both pre-construction estimating and commercial surveying responsibilities, offering involvement across the full project lifecycle.
Projects typically range from £250k to £5m and include:
- Listed building restorations
- High-end refurbishments
- Commercial and residential fit-outs
- Conservation and specialist works
You’ll play a key role in securing new work, managing project costs, and supporting delivery teams from pre-construction through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
- Carry out take-offs and produce Bills of Quantities (BoQs)
- Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Support cost planning, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Monitor project costs, variations, and cash flow (post-contract)
- Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions
- Attend site visits, client meetings, and tender interviews
- Support smooth handover to delivery teams and assist through to project completion
